ok, so i haven't updated in a while.
i've had a busy couple of weeks, but other than that i don't really have an excuse. i'm just lazy.
ok, so i haven't updated since LAST month. man, i suck at lj.
I saw the midnight viewing of IM2 when it came out with Aggie, even though i had work the next day. Granted, I didn't think it was as good as the first one, i did enjoy it, and I plan on seeing it again (at least twice - once so that kepp0xy and i can have an international movie date, and once with my aunt who ALSO loves Iron Man!!)
At first i wasn't too impressed that Pepper didn't realize something was up with Tony, but they weren't really spending a lot of time together, so i forgave her. New!Rhodey wasn't bad - i missed Terrence a little bit, but New!Rhodey had more air time, so that was good. Scarlett didn't piss me off like i though she might (honestly? i don't really know how i feel about her. She's married to Ryan Reynolds who i totally adore, so she can't be all bad, right? I just don't know how i feel about her as an actress. I haven't seen lost in translation which apparently she was amazing in...) but anyways. she was ok. I love that more Avenger stuff was in it!! So yay for that! but i'll really need to watch it again to gather my thoughts on it better
OMG, The Eagles on the 9th was fucking amazing. But i'm totally biased. I would love them regardless. Still, they started with 7 bridges road, ended with life in the fast lane, then ended the encore with Desperado. It was just amazing, and they're still so funny, and seriously... just an awesome night.
{if i'm going to be brutally honest, i'm really glad it was on mothers day. i think it gave us all something to look forward to. so best mothers day i've had in a couple years, for sure}
On the 14th, i went to the island to visit the woman. We had a nice weekend - we started A Room With A View on Friday night, but we were both pretty tired, and on Saturday we drove to nanaimo to visit Brendon and Matt Pater - a guy we went to high school with. He is still cute, and adorable. <3 but yes. K and I had a pretty good time in Nanaimo. We took kaeda to the beach and chilled there for a little while, we drove around looking for ice cream. We ended up at a McD's, where this guy came up to us and gave us a list - "Tales of the Manipulator". He had major issues, but apparently he basically had an epiphany the night before and had to write down his thoughts - he wanted people (mostly women) to avoid being manipulated by men. He had Daddy Issues. But he talked at us for 10-20 mins saying how he had been manipulated, and he wanted to warn people of the KINDS of manipulators out there, so he gave us a list and he went on about how his dad and older brother manipulated him and how he wanted to make people aware so THEY weren't manipulated and... etc etc etc. He seemed like a nice enough man, but a little crazy. so that was interesting. We had dinner with Matt and Brendon, and then after dinner spent another hour or so hanging out with Matt. It was nice to see him again, and now that i have his email addy, i'm going to try and keep in contact with him. He was a good friend in High School.
Sadly, on Sunday Sarah's grandmother (JJ) passed away. So she wasn't at work that week (understandably). And my friend Sonia was getting ready to get married the week after, so that was exciting and busy.
OMG. So... East Indian Weddings? Kinda cool. theres so many ceremonies and stuff. I went to her Engagement party on the 24th, and it was basically her and her fiancee sitting and people giving them money and taking pictures with them. but before that, the men in her immediate family gave gifts to her fiancee, and then the women in HIS family gave her gifts (bracelets and earrings and other stuff), and THEN the picture taking began. On Wednesday, i got Henna done, and that was cool. I got to meet some of her friends and family members, and i did a little bit of dancing that night (with my Boss's Boss who was there. She's kinda fun to party with. a little scary at work, but fun outside of work). thursday was... her family giving her bracelets and... maybe getting ready to give her away? I was a little confused, but it was nice that I was invited and got to see. Then Saturday was the wedding and reception, and I was allowed to take a date, so I brought Drewbie. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, and Sonia is a gorgeous woman, but she was stunning all done up and everything. I got to see a co-worker who's on stress leave (and preggars, and is most likely never coming back to work), so that was nice.
After the ceremony (which i didn't understand at all, but whatever, it was beautiful) we were fed, then were allowed to leave. There was something in the afternoon, but another co-worker told me that it was sad, since it was basically her brothers giving her away to her new family, and it was very emotional and if you were a cryer, you'd cry. so i didn't go to that. I had a nap when I got home, texted a few ppl, then got ready for the reception.
That was fun. The invitation to the reception (which i didn't actually get, but Sonia kept asking if I was going, so i figured i was invited anyway) had the wrong address on it, so Drew picked me up and we got to the place, and it looked pretty deserted, but we were both, okay, whatever. Then I saw Sue Chan - the mother of one of the bridesmaids (who also works with RBA) showed up, and I thought that if Sue was there then we MUST be in the right place. And this other couple who must have gotten there just before we did got out of their car and the 6 of us went in (Sue's other daughter Sonia was there as well) and we asked if we were in the right place for the Wedding Reception.
The guy at the front desk was all, Um, we think there's been a mistake. Here's this other address, We think its there. We've gotten a few calls, but this isn't the place.
So we drove to the other place.
Let me tell you why there was so much confusion. The place WE went to was The Grand Ballroom, on Riverside Way. The place we were SUPPOSED to go was The Grand Ballroom at Riverside (on River Road). AND the invitations for the reception had the Riverside Way address on it. So... yeah. Not completely our fault. A whole bunch of ppl went to the Riverside Way place, and we talked to some of them, and apparently the ppl working at the Grand Ballroom there had posted a sign on the door saying if you're here for the reception you're in the wrong place, this is where you're supposed to go.
so it was kind of funny. BUT we got there just after 7 and had appetizers, and Sonia and Jat didn't get there until 9 or so, and dinner wasn't served til about 11pm, and then we danced a little, but i was pretty tired (even after my short nap) and slightly emotionally drained, so Drew and I left at about... midnight or so.
Ooh, also, on Friday the 28th, Drew and I both had the day off, so we went on a little adventure together. We decided on having lunch earlier in the week, and then he said lets go somewhere! It was a REAL adventure - a mini roadtrip. We got in the car and said, Pemberton is as FAR as we'll go, so anything in between us and there is fair game for lunch. He drove, of course (because he wanted to drive, and I didn't want to, so it worked out perfectly), and this was the first time it was just him and me and the open road. We listened to my iPod so we listened to my Rock Band playlist for a while, then we put it on shuffle, and there were some songs that I rocked out to. We made it to Whistler, looked for a place to eat, chatted, had to walk around again because we didn't really pay attention the first time, had lunch, walked around a bit more, went to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, then we went back to Drews and we watched Glee. OMG, the car ride home was pretty fun. Drew and I got some chocolate covered espresso beans, and he said that about 3 of them was like a cup of coffee, so a popped 6 in my mouth and the craziness began. We had about 10 each during the drive, and we both were a bit... nutty. We took a lot of side streets to get back to Drews, and we saw a PINK !! house. No seriously, I shrieked PINK when i saw it. There was absolutely no other way to say it - it was that pink. and awesome. So yeah, before we left my place that morning, i made sure i had the first half of Season 1 of Glee in my bag - Drew had promised me that he'd watch it, so I was making sure he was going to keep that promise. We watched the first couple of episodes, and it was about 5-ish when Jamieson joined us, and we ordered sushi and watched a movie - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - It was interesting. Kinda weird (which is usually my cup of tea), but it felt like... they were going to go a different way. But then again, Heath died, so maybe that storyline went with him. I dunno. I felt.... unsatisfied with the ending though. A little. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie, but... I think i'd have to see it again to really... get more out of it. That was Drew's third time watching it, and he still gets something new out of it. After the movie we watched another ep of Glee (Acafellas) and then Jamieson and I went home. It was a fun day.
Drew, I am proud to say, watched the rest of Glee without me.
Last week was month end stuff, and that was pretty busy. Watched Glee with Sarah on tuesday. Not much else happened I don't think.
This Friday i spent some time with Sarah before we were picked up by Chris and Kieran to play Boozeopoly (Monopoly with booze, with rules that Peanut made up). It took us a while to set up and everything, and by the time we each had a turn, Sarah's bf was on his way to pick her up. So that was kinda sad. I thought about going with her, but she said I should stay, and the boys wanted me to stay (then they made inappropriate comments that made me want to leave, and by they i mean Kieran) so I stayed, after some consideration. Sarah set some rules down for them though - no touching no molesting no funny business. I walked her to the exit (down the hall and around the corner) and then we waited for Kieran's friend Miles to show up, and had to RESTART the game (since Kieran was already losing) for "Miles" so that he could have a fresh game or some lame excuse like that. So we restarted the game, and the boys made me play by the rules (I was just going to drink at my own pace) but Miles had heard that I was drinking fireball, so he brought fireball and we bonded over that. I also asked Miles to win at the game, and that if he did he was my hero. anyway, so we both had mickey's of fireball, and i got to drink of a cool mug (it reminded me of the tankards from beauty and the beast) and after we had all gone around the board once, another friend of the boys' came over - Ian. I sort of already knew Ian - he worked at Old Spaghetti Factory with Drew and Chris, I had a class with him at Kwantlen (you know, when I went to college), and his gf is close with Karen. So he was a more-or-less familiar face.
I'm happy to say that Kieran was the first person out, followed by Chris, then Ian, and I conceded to Miles (as I didn't have any full sets of properties, and he had a hotel on Park Place and Boardwalk and it was late anyway). So Miles won!! And I gave him a back massage for being the winner. At the end of the night, i realized that I finished my mickey of fireball, which impressed the guys (and me!! I wasn't stupid drunk or anything... well, not THAT stupid).
So... I was resting on Kieran's bed for a minute or so (i was drunk and tired, and the boys were in the other room being loud, and i think on the couches) and my ride left without me, but taking the other guys with him. So i had to call my sis to pick me up at 330 in the morning. I could have stayed, but he wasn't really feeling well - he had a LOT to drink - and he had to work in the morning, and I really do prefer my own bed.
So the next morning, i woke up around 8 830 (after going to bed around 4) and got out of bed around 930, bought my sis some delicious brekkie at De Dutch, got home, had a 3 hour nap, then hung out with my sis for a bit (we had started watching Dead Like Me earlier in the week) and then I went to see Get Him To The Greek with Amber, Ryan& Jamieson.
That was a pretty funny movie, i have to admit.
Yesterday Drew and I went to Prince of Persia, which I really enjoyed. I might even see it again. (ha, MIGHT.)
I have this friday off, so I might go see the A-Team. I haven't decided.
But yes. That's my life update.
