Sep. 15th, 2008 08:40 amSo i had a lot of fun on saturday.
Friday night after work me and Mares drove to Midway. We made good time though - got there around 1130pm.
On saturday we went to the Rock Creek Fall Fair - THE place to be in the Okanagan.
I shopped at some of the little stalls and got earrings and a ring - go figure. I ate Beef on a Bun - it was pretty yummy. We stopped by the Beer Garden, but left quickly since Kim wasn't ready to drink at 3pm. So we saw the barn animals, had a couple of cool drinks (water, lemonade, stuff like that). Shopped a bit more, ate some fries, went to the Beer Garden, left the Beer Garden, met up with some people - my cousins who are not my actual cousins. Yes, i have them in Midway too. Robbie, Ray, Cal, Jeff, Monty - the boys my aunt seems to adopt because she's awesome and they love her.
The Highlight of my trip was seeing Lindsey. My best friend from way back, she's been Australia for a year. A YEAR. I don't get to see her that much anyway since she lives in Kelowna, but she's been gone for a year in another country half-way around the world. We met up randomly - me, Kim and Mares were going to watch a couple friends of Kim's - Tara and Monty - go on this ride The Zipper (which i'd rather chew off my own arm before going on). And then there Lindsey is, with Graeme and Skyler. So I hang out with them until its time to go. We went on the Super Shot - which is kinda like the Hellevator at Playland, but it only goes up really slow and comes down really fast. Its a really short ride. But we walk around and we grab a bite to eat (i had another beef on a bun, but it was unintentional).
so i invite Lins to come over to Mimi's since she was apparently having a get together at her place anyway. So then I meet up with Kim and Mares, who are NOT happy since we were giving Tara and Monty a ride cuz they were smashed, but we couldn't find them and Kim was getting cranky - by this time we'd been at the fair for 8 hours. So we finally find them and they go on one more ride. I see Alex - a kid I used to BABYSIT - and he's all 'here try this' while passing me a huge can of Rock Star. Obviously, i'm suspicious, but take a sip anyway. 100% Wiesers Whiskey (or something like that. i have no idea how to spell it if that's even the name). This kid is like... Well, i don't really know, but he's not old enough to drink yet. So then he tries to make me go on a ride with him since i have tickets left over, but i say no (because my sister will KILL ME if i disappear) and i just give the tickets to him.
SO THEN we finally get to go home. I'm freezing my ass off practically. I take Kim in Maren's car, and Maren drives Tara and Monty in Tara's car. So we're off - me and Kim have the heat on full, and the seat warmers on high.
We get to Mimi's and she's entertaining a couple people already. So after maybe 20 mins, Lins shows up and then everyone else goes to the bar. Me and Lins stay at Mimi's, have a couple drinks, and just catch up.
OOH, i forgot to mention - THE BAR. Apparently the Midway bar had no power - we think the guy (Norm?) couldn't afford to pay his power bill so they shut it off. He, however, went and got a generator. So the beer was cold, and the place was apparently lit by candles.
Seriously, where else BUT Midway can you go to bar without power and still have a good time??
I didn't go, but the rest of my family did and they said it was a pretty good time. I'm glad i stayed though. Me and Lins rarely get the chance to hang, and she's my best friend and I never get to see her. Hopefully I'll see her around Xmas time.
I missed her a lot.
